How to Affordably Improve Indoor Air Quality

The indoor air quality (IAQ) in your Yulee, Florida, home can impact your health and comfort in many ways. If you have poor IAQ, you may experience headaches, congestion, nausea, dizziness, and difficulty sleeping. You don’t have to spend a lot to keep your air clean. Take the following steps to improve the indoor air quality in your home and enjoy a fresher, healthier living environment:

Add Plants to Your Home

Plants can naturally enhance the air quality in your home by removing pollutants like benzene and formaldehyde. Some of the most effective options are bamboo palm, English ivy, and Janet Craig dracaena.

Eliminate Artificial Fragrances

Many products that seem to freshen your air actually release irritants that can cause headaches, itchy eyes, or irritated skin. Remove candles and aerosol sprays that add artificial fragrances to the air. Choose fresh, clean air over chemical additives that only mimic the scent of fresh air. As a result, you’ll take a small step toward improving your indoor air quality.

Change Your Air Filter

The air filter in your HVAC system is one of your primary lines of defense against allergens and irritants. You should check the air filter once a month for a visible buildup of dirt and dust. Change it as needed or at least four times a year. Our service technicians will change the filter for you during maintenance visits. Therefore, you can eliminate two of these filter changes if you schedule annual tune-ups for your AC system and heater.

Use an Air Purifier

There are many products available to help purify your air. You can use natural items like beeswax candles or Himalayan salt lamps, which release negative ions that naturally combat positively charged irritants and allergens. You may also consider a commercial solution that targets indoor pollutants, such as the Trane CleanEffects Air Cleaner.
